Secret to Better Digital Marketing

I believe the secret to achieving better results with your digital marketing — is to do less of it.

Maybe not less in spend and overall activity, but less in terms of becoming too hyper-focused on the minutiae of clicks, engagement, impressions and all of the other detailed metrics. Don’t get me wrong, all of this is good and having the ability to directly measure marketing results is obviously a very good thing. But there’s something I see every day with most clients - results flatten or we get so focused on the dashboard or the monthly report, that we often fail to ask ourselves things like “Do consumers really even know who we are? Have we given them a reason to care and to choose our brand over the countless options that exist? Can we possibly connect more deeply with a person with a fleeting digital ad?” You get the idea.

My point is many brands might want to take a pause and review their own brand pendulum - has everything swung too far to a digital-only or “digital-mostly” world? I believe the secret to better digital marketing is to return to a better balance between brand digital marketing. Give consumers a reason to like you, to connect with why you do what you do, and to become more memorable. So when they see your digital ad, the call-to-action will stand a better chance of working.
